"Talking to Heaven: A Medium's Message of Life After Death" by James Van Pragh.
A Book Review (b) Cheryl Lynne Bradley 1999-2003

This is a wonderfully compact book (191 pages), filled with Mr. Van Praaghs' story of his personal journey as a medium. He includes a section on "The Unveiling", "The Sessions" and "The Next Step".

In Section One, "The Unveiling",Mr. Van Praagh discusses how he came to understand his gift and the experiences and people who helped and guided him. There are several areas contained in this section that we can all relate to both as readers and as individuals on our own spiritual journey.

The second section, "The Sessions" is all anecdotal. There are some fascinating stories contained here which draw out the full range of the emotions surrounding grieving. I like Mr. Van Praagh's expression of feeling deep satisfaction at being able to help people struggling with the loss of a loved one. He shows a high level of empathy - empathy is the highest form of love.

In Section Three, "The Next Step", he teaches us how to deal with grief, how to make contact with the other side and how to meditate properly. I found this section too short but he has provided a lot of very good information in a clear and concise way.

I found this book enjoyable and quite educational in an unobtrusive way.

It is published by Dutton Books, Penguin Group and was first published in 1997. The ISBN is 0-525-94268-8.
