The Tabby Cat and the Baby Jesus:
A Christmas Story

The baby Jesus was in his manger and Mary couldn't get him to settle down for his nap. He just kept fussing and crying. One by one the animals in the manger came over to the baby Jesus' cradle to try to get him to go to sleep but neither the donkey, goat, horse, or lamb could get him to fall asleep.

While all this was going on a tabby cat was sitting quietly in the corner washing herself from head to toe. She cleaned the soot off of her tail, her face and ears, and her body. After she was done with her thorough cleaning she jumped into the cradle next to the baby Jesus. She started to purr the lullaby that all mother cats purr to their babies to get them to go to sleep. And in no time at all the baby Jesus was sound asleep.

Mary was so pleased with the little tabby cat that she bestowed the letter "M" on her forehead. So now whenever you look at a tabby cat you will see the letter "M" marked in black lines and you will remember the little tabby cat and the baby Jesus.
